Plainfield Sex Offender Was At Mather Woods: Sheriff

PLAINFIELD, IL — A Plainfield man convicted of child porn charges was arrested again last week after violating his Illinois sex offender registration by being in a public park, the Will County Sheriff's Office said. Although the incident happened on Sept. 6, it wasn't until Wednesday that a spokeswoman for the sheriff issued a release saying Timothy Carpenter was at Mather Woods, 25032 W. Renwick Road.

According to the Illinois Sex Offender Registry, Carpenter was 30 and his victim was 9 at the time of the offense. He was convicted on child porn charges in DuPage County in 2014.

Carpenter was living in the basement of a Naperville home back in 2013 when he was arrested on six counts of possession of child porn. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

Required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life and categorized as a sexual predator, Carpenter was arrested last week after allegedly going to Mather Woods, according to the sheriff's office. He was released several hours later.
