• Firefighters rescue cat after house fire leaves family homeless in Mundelein (lakemchenryscanner.com) — Round Lake firefighters were among several neighboring departments who helped Mundelein crews battle a basement house fire that left a family homeless but spared their cat. The blaze, reported Monday afternoon on Shadydell Avenue, was extinguished in about 20 minutes with no injuries, though the home was declared uninhabitable while the cause remains under investigation.
