Mussman Supports Neurodivergent Drivers with New Laws Launching Blue Envelope Program and Adding ID Designation (ilhousedems.com) — Schaumburg residents will soon see new tools to help neurodivergent drivers navigate traffic stops more safely, thanks to legislation led by state Rep. Michelle Mussman, D-Schaumburg. A statewide Blue Envelope Program and optional autism or intellectual disability designations on licenses will roll out in 2027, aiming to ease interactions with police. Local drivers can also contact Mussman's Schaumburg district office with questions. 
2. Suburbs would control Lake Michigan water supply under $6B plan (chicagotribune.com) — Schaumburg's future drinking water could soon come through a new $6 billion suburban-controlled Lake Michigan system, reducing reliance on Chicago and potentially stabilizing rates. The project would send purified water through tunnels past O'Hare to Schaumburg and nearby suburbs by 2041, aiming for safer treatment of contaminants like PFAS and microplastics. Local leaders say it's a generational shift in who controls your tap.
3. The Actuarial Foundation (insidephilanthropy.com) — A Schaumburg-based nonprofit, The Actuarial Foundation, is quietly becoming a national hub for math education support, offering free classroom resources, tutoring programs, and sizable scholarships for aspiring actuaries. While its grants are modest and narrowly focused on math and actuarial careers, local students and teachers can tap into contests, awards, and financial aid with no geographic restrictions.
4. Kelley takes over brother's judge seat after 23 years on Harper College board (dailyherald.com) — A longtime Schaumburg attorney and Harper College trustee, Bill Kelley has been appointed a Cook County judge after decades practicing at his family's Schaumburg law firm. His move creates a vacancy on Harper's board, now filled by Barrington resident Tricia Elliott, who can run for a full term in 2027.
