• Man Killed In Skokie Had Criminal Record: Report (patch.com) — Skokie residents are learning more about the man fatally shot last month near Howard Street and McCormick Boulevard, now identified as 31-year-old Rami Jalal Naisan. Authorities say he died after being taken to a local hospital, and public records cited in the report detail his prior criminal convictions and recent federal custody before the Skokie killing.
   

• Skokie zoning reform would make home renovations easier (illinoispolicy.org) — Skokie homeowners could soon renovate or expand without being forced to add new parking spaces, under a zoning amendment on the village board's Sept. 8 agenda. The change, backed by staff, aims to cut housing costs and red tape, aligning Skokie with other Illinois communities that are easing parking mandates to support more flexible, affordable housing improvements.
