St. Charles Man Charged With Armed Robberies in Elgin, St. Charles
Meanwhile, authorities are working to connect the man to a third armed robbery in St. Charles.

A 46-year-old St. Charles man has been charged with armed robbery for holding up a 7-11 in St. Charles and a business in Elgin this past week.
Ronald L. Medlin, of 6N836 Thompson Ave. in St. Charles, is being held on a $500,000 bail after being charged with one count of armed robbery, a class x felony, in Kane County on Wednesday.
That charge is in connection with a robbery that occurred at the 7-11, 2400 E. Main St. in St. Charles, at about 3:40 a.m. Monday. During that robbery, Medlin is accused of pulling out a folding knife and telling the clerk to give him all the money, St. Charles Police Department Deputy Chief David Kintz said.

He then took cash from the cash register and a couple packs of cigarettes before fleeing northbound on foot. The clerk was not injured.
Medlin has also been charged with armed robbery for his alleged role in a robbery at a business in the 300 block of South State Street in Elgin at about 2:50 a.m. on Tuesday. In that robbery, he is accused of displaying a weapon and demanding cash from a store clerk, according to an Elgin Police Department press release.

Following that robbery, officers were able to identify Medlin as a suspect and found him at a home in the 300 block of South Drive in South Elgin where he was taken into into custody.
Authorities in St. Charles also believe Medlin is responsible for robbing the Clark, 1023 W. Main St. in St. Charles, this past week. In that case, an offender walked into the store at 7 p.m. Monday and pulled a knife on the clerk, Kintz said. The suspect got away with cash and fled north on Main Street.
A K9 officer from the South Elgin Police Department assisted and tracked the offender to a parking lot across the street where the offender got into a vehicle and left the area, according to Kintz.
“Investigators are still working to link the case at the Clark,” Kintz said.
