The goals for offering the team include teaching fundamentals, offering safe play and growing a successful program that builds school spirit, friendships and exposure to the sport, according to a press release from St. Patrick Catholic School.

St. Patrick’s also offers boys and girls volleyball and basketball teams and a co-ed cross country team. The athletic program is open to students starting in fifth grade. More than 70 percent of St. Patrick students in fifth through eighth grades participated in the athletic program during the 2010-11 school year.

School also has opened its new facility this fall on Crane Road in St. Charles, which will house a student population of about 540 students with capacity for more than 800 students. For information or enrollment inquiries, call 630- 338-8100 or visit www.stpatsirish.org.
