St. Coletta's Parent Association Provides Support to Families
The Parent Association offers many benefits to parents of individuals who attend the Kennedy School, live in a CILA or attend day programs.

Tinley Park, IL – The St. Coletta’s of Illinois Parent Association understands that parents of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities experience challenges and joys that are, in some ways, unique. Therefore, the St. Coletta’s of Illinois Parent Association is an essential aspect of support. The Parent Association provides a forum for parents or guardians to come together to support each other as well as focus on any specific needs that arise for each family.
Parents of individuals who attend the Kennedy School, live in one of the CILA group homes, or take part in the Day Program are welcome to join and participate.
The Parent Association, which meets quarterly, offers many benefits. Parent Association President Jack Angelus (Downers Grove) asserts that these informative meetings are a way to provide parents with hands-on involvement in their child’s development. “There is so much value in sharing experiences, voicing concerns, and understanding program options.”

Angelus goes on to say that “Interaction between members gives both new and old members alike the benefit of their experience regarding the well-being and development of their child. The Association also provides a conduit to the administration, as meetings are always attended by a representative of St. Coletta’s who can provide guidance, share updates and gather parent input.”
By attending meetings, parents learn from each other, gain knowledge about available program options, and most importantly, become actively engaged in ensuring the continuing success of the programs and services that are there to support and enhance the lives of their loved ones.
