$35K Stolen In Wheaton's 2nd Ruse Burglary In 1 Week: Cops
Thousands of dollars in jewelry were stolen during a ruse burglary in the 100 block of Mitchell Circle, the second in Wheaton this week.

WHEATON, IL — Four men claiming to be water department employees stole around $35,000 worth of jewelry during a ruse burglary in Wheaton Wednesday, the second reported in the city in days. The most recent burglary took place in the 100 block of Mitchell Circle, a news release said.
Police say a man wearing a reflective vest came to the home's driveway around 1:40 p.m. and told a resident he needed to check their water meter. The resident took the man to the backyard.
At that time, three other men entered the home and told another resident they needed them to empty the area under their kitchen sink to allow for maintenance work. This made the resident suspicious, police say, and they asked the men to leave.
