Midwest Dachshund Rescue Fundraiser and Social May 14 at DuPage Fairgrounds in Wheaton
Dachshund Dash Wiener Dog Races and much more at the 2016 Cross Town Bark Around for Midwest Dachshund Rescue
The Midwest Dachshund Rescue (MWDR) 2016 Cross Town Bark Around fundraiser and dachshund social will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016, at the DuPage County Fairgrounds Exhibition Hall, 2015 Manchester Road in Wheaton, Illinois. Friendly leashed dachshunds, dachshund mixes and their families and friends are invited. Dachshund lovers without dogs are also welcome. A highlight will be the “Dachshund Dash Wiener Races” beginning at 1:30 p.m. All activities, except for the races, will be inside the air-conditioned buildings.

Activities will include a Costume Contest for dogs, a Talent Show, Peanut Butter Lick Contest, a Doxie Scent Trail, raffles, silent auctions, the Doxie MidWay with a Beanie Baby Doxie Race Track, the Doxie Toy Pool, a Paw Print Mart, Doxie General Store and much more! The sponsor is the Veterinary Specialty Center.
There are dog friendly hotels in the area including the Hampton Inn at 205 West North Avenue, Carol Stream, Illinois (630-681-9200). In addition, the fairgrounds has on-site camping facilities.
Last year, more than 1,000 people and 400 dachshunds attended. MWDR is a 501(c)3 all-volunteer organization that was founded in 2003 and serves Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa and other Midwest states as needed. Its mission is to help individuals, families, human societies and shelters to safely rehome and rehabilitate dachshunds and dachshund mixes.
