Nurse Accused Of Hire-For-Murder Plot Faces New Charge

The Des Plaines now faces a new charge of attempted first-degree murder on top of several solicitation charges.

WHEATON, IL — Tina Jones, the nurse being accused of hiring a company to murder her lover's wife, now faces a new charge of attempted first-degree murder. Jones, 31, pleaded not guilty to class X felonies Thursday, including the attempted murder charge and four counts of solicitation of murder for hire and two counts of solicitation of murder, according to the Daily Herald.

Prosecutors say Jones, of Des Plaines used the dark web to pay $10,000 in cryptocurrency to a company to kill her lover's wife, a Woodridge woman.

Woodridge police were notified of the plot by CBS's "48 Hours," who found out about the murder contract while investigating another story, according to the Herald. If she's convicted, the class X felonies would make Jones ineligible for probation. She'll face up to 40 years in prison if she's convicted of the most serious charge.
