WHEATON, IL - A former Wheaton College student who planted a spy camera in the washroom of a college-owned apartment, and recorded a group of women he called his friends while they showered, has been sentenced to 180 days in jail, the Daily Herald reports.
Alexander Lim, who is a resident of Singapore, apologized to the victims of his videotaping scheme during a sentencing hearing, which started on Wednesday and wrapped up on Thursday morning, according to the article.
On Wednesday, prosecutors showed a video, which recorded the reactions of the female victims after learning they had been videotaped for months by their friend while in the washroom, according to a Thursday article on the Daily Herald website. Lim, 25, pleaded guilty to five counts of unauthorized video recording in April. He is now required to serve half of his sentence before he is eligible for parole, according to the Daily Herald.
Lim was arrested in February 2015 following an investigation that revealed he had installed a “spyview camera watch” in a shower in the woman’s bathroom and had been secretly recording women while they showered since October 2014, according to a DuPage State’s Attorney’s Office press release.

A female student found the watch while she was showering on Feb. 22, 2015. She noticed the watch had a camera on its face and immediately called campus police. Lim was arrested the next day.
An investigation further revealed that Lim posted the videos online. Lim was released from custody on Feb. 27 after he posted 10 percent of his $75,000 bail.
Lim’s defense attorney said his client suffers from an epileptic condition that likely leads to his “obsessive and compulsive sex addict behavior,” according to the Daily Herald. He had argued for probation for Lim during this week's sentencing hearings.
