Wheaton to Host Open House to Honor Outgoing City Manager

City Manager Donald Rose has been with the city for 42 years. He is set to retire on April 30.

The city of Wheaton will host an open house next week to honor outgoing City Manager Donald Rose who is set to retire at the end of this month.

The open house will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 in the Gamon Room and Council Chambers of city hall, 303 W. Wesley St.

The event will honor City Manager Rose’s 42 years of service to Wheaton. Rose has served as the city manager for over 35 years. Mayor Michael Gresk will say a few words of appreciation at 5:30 p.m.

Rose was appointed to the position of Wheaton City Manager on November 1, 1980 following the resignation of then city manager William Kirchoff, who became the City Manager in Lakewood, Colorado.

Rose started his employment with Wheaton in May of 1974 when he was hired by Kirchoff as the Assistant to the City Manager. Over the next six years, Rose also performed the duties of assistant city manager and deputy city manager.

Assistant city manager Michael Dzugan has been appointed as the new city manager of Wheaton.
