NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka police departments and court records as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state, and county prosecutors often choose to drop or reduce them. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless later proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.


WILMETTE

INCIDENTS

FORGERY
A Wilmette Avenue resident reported on March 5 that someone had intercepted and altered a check that they had mailed on Dec. 24, 2021. An original check for $1,890 had been altered to $3,800, police were told.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

David J. Lawrence, 40, of the 1300 block of Beechwood Circle, Naperville, was arrested at some point on March 4 after police pulled him over for speeding around 15th Street and Lake Avenue and learned he had an active arrest warrant for failure to appear in court in DuPage County and a suspended river's license. He was also issued citations for speeding and no proof of insurance.

Jose Alvarez, 30, of the 3000 block of South Albany Avenue, Chicago, was arrested shortly after 3 a.m. on March 5 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and with a revoked driver's license following a traffic stop in the 500 block of Green Bay Road. He was also issued citations for improper lane usage, use of an electronic communication device by a driver and no proof of insurance. Although DUI with a revoked license can be charged as an aggravated offense, prosecutors did not charge him with a felony.

James Harris, 39, of the first block of West 112th Place, Chicago, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police were called to his apartment around 5:15 p.m. on March 8 for a report of a disturbance there. When officers arrived, they reported finding an apparently intoxicated Harris in the driver's seat of a car. Officers also issued him a citation for illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol by a driver.

Roberto E. DiMarco, 19, of the 3900 block of Harvard Terrace, Skokie, was arrested shortly after 8 p.m. on March 8 and charged with possession of a controlled substance after an encounter with police in the 400 block of Sunset Drive. Police said he was one of two passengers in an illegally parked car that smelled of cannabis, and when he got out of the car, police found two Xanax pills that he admitted were his. At the time of his arrest, DiMarco was out on bail awaiting trial on felony charges of knowing possessing a fraudulent driver's license and manufacturing or delivering between 5 and 10 grams of cannabis, as well as misdemeanor charges of driving under the influence and possession of alcohol by a minor.


KENILWORTH

Kenilworth police did not report any incidents or arrests for the week of March 4 to March 11.


GLENCOE

INCIDENTS

EBAY SCAM
A Jefferson Avenue resident reported on March 10 that they sold a $6,014 watch on the online auction marketplace eBay and mailed it to Maryland before learning that the purchaser's account was fraudulent. The resident never received payment for the watch.

MISSING PHONE
A resident in the 400 block of Washington Avenue reported on March 10 that an Apple iPhone that was supposed to have been delivered to their home, along with another phone they had purchased, was missing. The missing phone was valued at more than $1,000. Police reported that neither the packing box nor the phone box appeared to have been tampered with and the resident did not want to pursue an investigation.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone damaged the bathroom in the Metra train station at 724 Old Green Bay Road prior to the afternoon of March 12. The officer who discovered the damage reported that a dividing law between a toilet and urinal had been broken into multiple pieces and someone had left empty bottles of alcohol in the toilet, which remained undamaged. The total repair costs were not known at the time of the report.

INCIDENTS

DAMAGED TREE
A resident in the 1500 block of Harding Road reported on March 7 that someone had damaged a tree on their property.

ATTEMPTED PHONE SCAM
A Riverside Drive resident reported on March 9 that someone had called them up and claimed to be a representative of the police with information about a family member before asking for a loan. Officers let the resident know the call was a scam.

CHECK FRAUD
Someone cashed several unauthorized checks from an account belonging to a Thornwood Lane resident for a loss of about $6,000, as of the afternoon of March 12.
