Police Warn Of Burglaries To Homes, Cars: Wilmette Crime Reports

WILMETTE, IL — The following information comes from the Wilmette Police Department as a record of police activity and those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state and can be dropped or reduced. Anyone named below is innocent unless their guilt is established beyond a reasonable doubt in court.
INCIDENTS
CAR BURGLARIES
Someone broke into two unlocked cars that had been parked in a driveway in the 1700 block of Wlmwood Avenue, stealing a wallet, sometime during the overnight hours of Feb. 17-18.

Someone stole $30 in change from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 1100 block of Hibbard Road between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Feb. 18.
ATTEMPTED HOME BURGLARIES
Someone tried to pry open doors at a home in the 400 block of Sheridan Road sometime between Feb. 21 and March 1, police said. It did not appear the burglars managed to make it inside.

Between 9:55 and 11:20 p.m. on Feb. 23, someone tried to get into a home in the 400 block of Lawler Avenue through a rear sliding door, police said. It did not appear anyone managed to make it inside.
HOME BURGLARY
Someone broke into a home in the 600 block of LeClaire Avenue between 3 and 9:40 p.m. on Feb. 23 by forcing open an exterior door, police said. The burglar or burglars ransacked every bedroom and the basement of the home, stealing cash and jewelry.
In a March 2 crime alert, cops asked anyone with any information about the above crimes to contact the Wilmette Police Department.
FRAUD
A resident of the 2200 block of Elmwood Avenue reported on Feb. 26 that someone had hacked their email and sent a fake past due notice to one of their business clients, asking them to deposit $1,500 into a fraudulent prepaid card account. The client reportedly made such a payment.
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident of the 500 block of Lauren Avenue reported on Feb. 28 that someone had used their personal information on Feb. 18 or 19 in an attempt to open credit card accounts and have their mail forwarded to some unknown location.
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident of the 600 block of Laurel Avenue reported on March 1 that sometime between Feb. 15 and March 1 someone had forwarded the household's mail to another address, which the post office refused to provide. An additional report was filed with postal investigators.
RETAIL THEFT
An employee of the Walgreens in the 800 block of Green Bay Road reported that someone stole two boxes of eye drops with a total value of $16.58 from the store around 12:52 p.m. on March 1. The shoplifter was described as a 6-foot, 2-inch white man in his late 20s with a thin build, brown hair, scraggly facial hair and acne. He was reportedly wearing a maroon hoodie and gray pants. He showed up and left in a black Nissan four-door, according to security video.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Antonio Kale, 48, of the 9800 block of Bianco Terrace, Des Plaines, was arrested on Feb. 24 and charged with aggravated batter to a senior following a road rage related incident.
