WINNETKA, IL — The following information comes from the police departments of Glencoe, Northfield and Winnetka as a record of police activity, incidents reported to the police and those they arrest. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indicator of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state, which are often dropped or reduced. All persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

THEFT/CREDIT CARD FRAUD

A resident in the 600 block of North Happ Road reported that someone stole a purse and later used credit cards stolen from inside it on Nov. 20.

"ARMANI JACKET SCAM"

A nicely dressed man walked up to a person and asked directions in the 200 block of Waukegan Road in Northfield. After he was given the directions, the nicely dressed man gave the caller four Armani jackets as a "token of his appreciation," and got the caller to voluntarily turn over an undisclosed amount of money. The caller later realized he had fallen victim to the "Armani Jacket Scam."

CAR BURGLARY

Police are investigating a report of a car burglary to an unlocked 2015 Ford Edge between Nov. 19 at 9 a.m. and Nov. 21 at 9 p.m. that had been parked in the 500 block of Woodland Lane North in Northfield.

HOME BURGLARY

A resident of the 200 block of Graemere Street reported being awoken by a burglar alarm that had been triggered by the garage door opening on Nov. 25 around 3:06 a.m. The resident reported finding an open garage door and the door to a BMW in the driveway left ajar, as well as a vehicle speeding away northbound. The incident remains under investigation.

ARRESTS

A 21-year-old Hanover Park woman was arrested Nov. 20 at 4:32 p.m. in the area of the 1600 block of Willow Road and charged with driving without a valid driver’s license and speeding.

Christopher J. Glab, 26, of the 1400 block of Wentworth Court, Vernon Hills, was arrested Nov. 23 at 1:53 a.m. in the area of Willow Road and Bristol Street and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. He was also issued tickets for speeding, and improper lane usage.

Hulan Shagdarsuren, 50, of the 7100 block of Forest Glen Drive, Rockford, was arrested Nov. 23 at 9:38 a.m. on an in-state warrant and charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license after she was stopped for talking on her cell phone while driving in the area of Wagner and Willow roads. She was issued a citation for driving with a suspended driver’s license, having no proof of insurance, and operating a vehicle while using an electronic communication device. At the time of her arrest in Northfield, she was also wanted on a warrant issued by the Berwyn Police Department for failure to appear in court.

Thomas R. Fraser, 60, of the 1700 block of Shirra Court, Arlington Heights, was arrested Nov. 25 at 8:45 p.m. around the 500 block of Frontage Road and charged with aggravated driving under the influence — due to it being his third such infraction.

A 25-year-old Evanston man was arrested Nov. 27 at 6:56 a.m. for driving on a suspended license after he was pulled over for talking on his cell phone while driving in the area of Willow Road and Walnut Street.

INCIDENTS

PACKAGE THEFT

A package was reported stolen from a home in the 300 block of South Avenue and later found in Winnetka, opened and laying in the street. The package was returned to its intended destination.

CITATIONS

A 17-year-old Lake Forest boy was issued a citation for possession of a small amount of cannabis in the 800 block of Sheridan Road on Nov. 27 at 10:05 p.m.

INCIDENTS

THEFT

A resident of the 800 block of Ash Street reported to police on the morning of Nov. 20 that someone stole a FedEx package worth $178 that had been delivered to the home between Nov. 11 at midnight and Nov. 12 at 5 p.m.

STOLEN CAR

A resident in the 1100 block of Elm Street reported someone stole an unlocked car that had the keys left inside between Nov. 24 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 26 at 4:30 a.m. The vehicle was later found in the area and the investigation is ongoing.

STOLEN CAR

A resident in the 300 block of Rosewood Avenue discovered that someone had stolen one unlocked car and rummaged through two others parked in the driveway between 3 and 7 a.m. on Nov. 26. The stolen vehicle was later found in the area and the investigation continues.

HOME BURGLARY

Someone got into a garage after rummaging through the contents of unlocked vehicles in the 900 block of Pine Tree Lane on Nov. 26 between midnight and 5 a.m. The burglar or burglars also stole from a vehicle in the garage. Items were later recovered in the area of the incident.

HOME BURGLARY

A resident of the 900 block of Pine Tree Lane discovered that someone had gotten into a garage after rummaging through an unlocked vehicle in the driveway. The vehicle in the garage, which contained keys, was stolen and later found outside of town limits. It was missing $600 in items, including leather shoes, sunglasses and an I-Pass.

CAR BURGLARY

A resident in the 1500 block of Asbury Avenue reported that between Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. and Nov. 26 at 6:42 a.m. someone had rummaged through two unlocked vehicles that had been parked in the driveway and taken a wallet with multiple credit cards from inside. The wallet was later found in the area.

CAR BURGLARY

A resident in the 1200 block of Forest Glen Drive North reported that someone entered two unlocked vehicles in a driveway between Nov. 25 at 9:30 p.m. and Nov. 26 at 7:32 a.m., although nothing was reported stolen.

CAR BURGLARY

A resident in the 1400 block of Asbury Avenue reported that someone stole a laptop and a checkbook worth $1,000 from inside an unlocked car parked in the driveway 4 and 7 a.m. on Nov. 26.

CAR BURGLARY

A resident in the 1500 block of Asbury Avenue reported that someone stole $5 worth of change from the center console area of an unlocked vehicle that had been parked in the driveway.

CAR BURGLARY

A resident of the 1300 block of Asbury Avenue reported that someone rummaged through the contents of an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway on Nov. 26 between midnight and 6 a.m.

CAR BURGLARY

A resident of the 1400 block of Asbury Avenue reported that someone rummaged through the contents of an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway prior to Nov. 26 at 10 a.m.

CAR BURGLARY

A resident of the 1400 block of Asbury Avenue reported that someone had stolen a cooler containing some food items and some change from the center console prior to Nov. 26 at 10 a.m. The cooler was later found in the area so the reported loss was $1.50.

CAR BURGLARY

A resident of the 1400 block of Asbury Avenue reported that someone had gotten into an unlocked car parked in the driveway and rummaged through its contents between Nov. 25 at 8 p.m. and Nov. 26 at 7:30 a.m., but there was no report of anything stolen.

STOLEN CAR FOUND

An officer discovered a suspicious vehicle around the 300 block of Rosewood Avenue that had previously been reported stolen from Naperville. Naperville PD was notified.

CAR BURGLARY

An officer in the area of the 1300 block of Asbury Avenue on Nov. 26 at 1:52 a.m. discovered a vehicle that appeared to have been rummaged through, but there was no immediate report of anything stolen.

CAR BURGLARY

A resident of the 1000 block of Elm Street reported discovering that someone had rummaged through an unlocked vehicle that had been parked in the alley between Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. and Nov. 26 at 9:30 a.m. There was no reported loss.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 19-year-old Opdyke man was arrested Nov. 24 in the 200 block of Sheridan Road after a traffic stop and cited with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cannabis.
