Volunteers Honored at Super Senior Day

Betty Primer, 92, of Morton Grove, poses for a photo with her guests during the Super Senior Day festivities on May 26 at North Shore Senior Center. Primer attended the event with her daughter-in-law, Beth Primer, of Glenview (right), and her sister-in-law, Susan Primer, of Wilmette (left). Betty Primer was nominated as a Super Senior for her volunteer efforts at North Shore Senior Center’s Northfield and Morton Grove Campuses.

Megan Dougan, 12, of Skokie was among the 24 students from St. Joan of Arc School and Christian Heritage Academy who volunteered to serve lunch at the event. Rento was nominated as a Super Senior by American Legion Post 166 in Glenview, and attended the celebration with several members of his family.

Super Senior Day takes place at the Arthur C. Nielsen, Jr. Campus in Northfield, and is held annually to honor senior volunteers nominated by area organizations for their dedication and involvement in their communities. This was the 38th year North Shore Senior Center hosted the event, which included a luncheon, live entertainment and recognition ceremony for 51 seniors. Support for Super Senior Day was provided by lead sponsor Vi at The Glen, and supporting sponsors ManorCare Health Services, and Whitehall of Deerfield.
