NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka police departments and court records as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state, and county prosecutors often choose to drop or reduce them. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless later proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
GLENCOE
INCIDENTS
THEFT
A Greenwood Avenue resident reported on Jan. 21 that their credit card had been billed $100 after they purchased a $20 newspaper subscription.
ARRESTS
James T. Rice, 27, of the 6400 block of Stockton Road in Fairfield, Ohio, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. on Jan. 26 following a traffic stop around the intersection of Green Bay Road and Jackson Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater. Officers also issued him citations for improper turning and improper lane usage.

George Armanov, 38, of the 2700 block of Dana Avenue, Waukegan, was arrested around 8 p.m. on Jan. 26 and charged with obstructing identification and driving while license is revoked following a traffic stop near Dundee Road and the Edens Expressway. He was also cited for unsafe U-turn and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
KENILWORTH
INCIDENTS
There were no incidents or arrests reported by the Kenilworth Police Department for the week ending Jan. 21.

NORTHFIELD
INCIDENTS
A resident in the 2000 block of Suffork Road reported that a suspicious male driver had been parked in the area and walked up their driveway. Officers did not find the car or person described by the resident.
THEFT FROM VEHICLE
Staff at New Trier High School's west campus reported that someone stole three catalytic converters from school buses parked in the lot at 7 S. Happ Road at some point on Jan. 17.
INTOXICATED PERSON
Officers were called to the area of Langoon and Sunset roads for a report of a man stumbling near the road. Police found the man, who they determined was intoxicated, and gave him a ride home.

WILMETTE
INCIDENTS
BANK FRAUD
An Apple Tree Lane resident reported that they discovered on Jan. 12 that someone had locked them out of their bank account. Over the next week, multiple unauthorized transactions were made from the account to another bank, police were told.
POLICE PURSUIT
Shortly after 3 a.m. on Jan. 15, an officer encountered a black Jeep Cherokee with a license plate containing "CD" that matched the description of the car used in two commercial burglaries at convenience stores in the village earlier that morning, which had a plate of CD27580. Police reported the driver of the Jeep fled police as soon as it saw a Wilmette police squad car. Officers chased it south on the Edens Expressway to Wilson Avenue, where they ended the pursuit. THEFT
A resident in the 500 block of Forest Avenue reported on Jan. 15 that someone had stolen a piece of patio furniture from their porch.
THEFTS FROM VEHICLES
- A resident in the 300 block of Ridge Road reported on Jan. 14 that the muffler had been stolen from their vehicle. Police said the catalytic converter was not removed.
- A resident in the 1100 block of Wilmette Avenue reported on Jan. 15 that she and her husband had noticed personal items were missing after leaving the car with the valet service of a Wilmette restaurant while dining.
- Someone tried to steal the catalytic converter from a bus belonging to an unspecified business in the 2800 block of Old Glenview Road at some point on Jan. 18 or Jan. 19.
- Someone stole a catalytic converter from a car parked in the 3200 block of Old Glenview Road at some point between Dec. 25, 2021, and Jan. 19.
ARRESTS
Noel Mbuembue, 55, of the 1500 block of McDaniel Avenue, Evanston, was arrested shortly after 3:15 a.m. on Jan. 15 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater following a traffic stop near the intersection of Lake Avenue and Locust Road. He provided a breath sample indicating his BAC was 0.136, more than one and a half times the legal limit for intoxication, and was also issued citations for improper turn, improper lane usage and illegal transportation of an open container of alcohol.
Mario F. Arias, 24, of the 4800 block of West 23rd Place, Cicero, was arrested around 1 a.m. on Jan. 16 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop near the intersection of 12th Street and Washington Avenue. Arias, who refused to provide a breath sample, was also issued citations for improper turn, improper lane usage, driving wrong side of traffic island and expired registration.
Damian Perez, 27, of the 200 block of Oakdale Avenue, Mundelein, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following an encounter with police near the intersection of Ridge Road and Wilmette Avenue around 5 a.m. on Jan. 16. An officer reported finding him slumped over behind the wheel of a car parked in the road. Police said he appeared to be impaired and refused to provide a breath sample at the station. Perez, whose car had a blown tire, was also cited for unsafe equipment and improper stopping on the roadway.

INCIDENTS
THEFT
Someone stole Apple AirPod headphones from an unlocked office at 22 Green Bay Road between 2:15 and 2:45 p.m. on Jan. 19.
CAR BURGLARIES
Someone burglarized two unlocked vehicles that had been parked in a driveway in the 1500 block of Tower Road between 10 p.m. Jan. 20 and 7:30 a.m. Jan. 21, rummaging through their interiors.
IDENTITY THEFTS
- A Tower Road resident reported on Jan. 9 that someone and used their identity to apply for a loan from SoFi and open a debit card with MetaBank for an unknown loss.
- A Spruce Street resident reported on Jan. 23 that someone had used their identity to try to open up a credit union account with Navy Federal. There was no loss reported.
