Woman faces harassment charges for second time in year, motorist suspicious of snow: Glencoe, Northfield, Winnetka Blotters Dec. 27 - Jan. 2

WINNETKA, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Winnetka and Northfield police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 1200 block of Tower Road reported that someone had damaged a homemade ice rink in their front yard between 9 p.m. on Dec. 27 and 8 a.m. on Dec. 28

ARRESTS

A 24-year-old Chicago woman was arrested around 1:20 p.m. on Dec. 30 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Willow Road. She was also ticketed for speeding.

GLENCOE

INCIDENTS

IDENTITY THEFT
A South Avenue resident reported on Dec. 26 that they had been contacted by collection agencies claiming that they had more than $2,500 in debt to AT&T and Comcast and learned that someone had opened fraudulent accounts using their information. The charges were later reversed.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 34-year-old Crest Hill man was issued citations for possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia and no rear license plate light following a traffic stop around 1:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Edgebrook Lane.

NORTHFIELD

INCIDENTS

DOG FECES
Police established a special watch around the North Shore Senior Center, 161 Northfield Road, as a result of a report from staff that an unidentified female dog walker had been leaving bags of dog feces in their trash bins and on their property.

SUSPICIOUS MELTING
A resident came to the Northfield Police Department on Dec. 29 to report a suspicious marking in the snow on the hood of her vehicle. Police determined that the marking had left by heat from the vehicle’s engine melting the snow.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A patron of a salon in the 200 block of Waukegan Road reported on Dec. 30 that someone had scratched the driver's side of their vehicle on Dec. 1.

ARRESTS

A 25-year-old Chicago man was arrested around 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 28 following a traffic stop in the 2100 block of Willow Road and charged with driving with a suspended license. He was also ticketed for speeding between 26 and 34 mph above the limit.

A 41-year-old Chicago woman was arrested around 11:16 p.m. on Dec. 29 in the 100 block of Riverside Drive and charged with telephone harassment and harassment by electronic communication following a complaint from a resident of the block who said she was a former acquaintance and had been sending repeated unwanted emails and making unwanted phone calls. Prosecutors dropped charges Feb. 14. Last February, the same woman was arrested after a similar complaint from a resident of the same block, another charge that was subsequently dismissed. According to the woman, she has had a relationship with the resident, Jim Richard, for years, and has proof it has continued. The most recent arrest, she said, was due to her attempt to obtain the remainder of a $40,000 loan she said she provided Richard when he was in debt. She said he knew about and agreed to the payment. Richard could not be reached for comment.
