Glencoe Man Burgled Home; Winnetka Teen Faces Felony: Blotters

Winnetka, Northfield and Glencoe police department blotters for July 12 - July 18

WINNETKA, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Winnetka and Northfield police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. INCIDENTS

DISORDERLY CONDUCT
Someone sent harassing text messages to a Church Road resident between June 24 and July 4, and police began investigating on the morning of July 9.

IDENTITY THEFT
A Lloyd Place resident reported on the afternoon of July 9 that someone had used their personal information to make credit card purchases and tried to open up an unauthorized store credit card for a loss of $1,881.92, starting sometime after June 28.

HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 700 block of Oak Street reported on July 13 that someone had rummaged through their apartment sometime after June 26. The total loss was unknown at the time of the report.

THEFT
A resident in the 1000 block of Dinsmore Road reported on the afternoon of July 14 that someone had stolen a bicycle worth $450 that had been left unattended in the driveway between 8 p.m. on July 13 and 10 a.m. on July 14.

THEFT
Someone stole a bicycle worth $300 that had been left unlocked by a bike rack in the 900 block of Green Bay Road between 2 p.m. on July 14 and 10:49 a.m. on July 15.

ARRESTS

A 23-year-old Evanston man was arrested at 4:40 a.m. on July 13 and charged with driving without a valid license following a traffic stop near the intersection of Walnut and Ash streets. He was also cited for running a stop sign, unlawful use of an ID card and obstructing police.

Bryon H. Brand, 19, of the 900 block of Private Road in Winnetka, was arrested at 12:44 p.m. on July 14 and charged with domestic battery, possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, criminal damage to property and possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia following a 911 call reporting a battery in progress at his home.

INCIDENTS

CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Someone did more than $500 worth of damage to an Audi near the intersection of Beach and Old Green Bay roads prior to 12:05 p.m. on July 14.

FRAUD ATTEMPT
A Grove Street resident reported on the afternoon of July 14 that someone sent a threatening letter demanding $3,200 in bitcoin not to release explicit videos of the resident.

DISORDERLY CONDUCT
Around 10 a.m. on July 17, a driver in the 300 block of Adams Avenue reported a motorcyclist spit on their vehicle and rode away.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

Andrew Leemputte, 22, of the 100 block of Old Green Bay Road in Glencoe and the 4000 block of Ashland Avenue in Chicago, was arrested on July 5 and charged with residential burglary in connection with a June 25 break-in in the 600 block of Vernon Avenue.

Police said items discovered at the scene of Leemputte's June 21 arrest for criminal damage and trespassing at the Lake Shore Country Club led to his eventual arrest. Leemputte also faces charges from Winnetka for allegedly breaking into a boathouse, damaging property and stealing electronics.

A 25-year-old Tuscon, Arizona man was cited around 7:20 p.m. on July 12 for soliciting without a permit in the 500 block of Westwood Lane.

A 23-year-old Elmhurst man was arrested at 2:23 p.m. on July 13 near the intersection of Hazel Avenue and Sheridan Road and charged with driving with a suspended driver's license.



NORTHFIELD

INCIDENTS

CREDIT CARD FRAUD
A Winnetka resident reported on the afternoon of July 9 that someone had used her credit card to make numerous unauthorized purchases from the Walgreens at 1825 Willow Road.

SOLICITOR COMPLAINT
A resident in the 500 block of Woodland Lane North reported someone soliciting without a permit at 8:27 p.m. on July 10. Police found the solicitor and advised him to stop until he obtained a village permit.

ILLEGAL DUMPING
A resident in the 300 block of West Frontage Road reported at 10:14 p.m. on July 14 that someone had dumped construction debris on her front yard.

ARRESTS

A 22-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 7:41 p.m. on July 11 and charged with driving without a valid license following a traffic stop near the intersection of Willow Road and Walnut Avenue. He was also ticketed for speeding and driving with a defective windshield.
