ID Thieves Withdraw Over $5,000, Change User Passwords: Blotters
Winnetka, Glencoe and Northfield Police Blotters: March 1 - March 7

WINNETKA, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Winnetka and Northfield police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Anyone arrested is innocent unless proven guilty. Criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced.

INCIDENTS
AGGRAVATED IDENTITY THEFT
A resident in the 1300 block of Sunview Lane discovered that someone had used their personal information to make unauthorized withdrawals of more than $5,000 from a BMO Harris bank account between Jan. 2 and March 1.

ATTEMPTED CHECK FRAUD
A resident in the 800 block of Locust Street reported on March 2 that someone had sent them a fraudulent check to buy an item that had been listed on Craiglist between Feb. 26 and 28.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A resident in the 300 block of White Oak Lane reported on the morning of March 3 that someone had damaged a vehicle parked in the driveway with an unknown object.

INCIDENTS
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident in the 900 block of Vernon Avenue reported shortly before 4 p.m. on March 1 that someone had accessed and altered their Facebook, Comcast, Instagram and Apple accounts.
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident of the 100 block of Park Avenue reported at 3:04 p.m. on March 5 that someone had used their credit card to buy $495 worth of products. The merchandise was mailed to the resident, who had not ordered any of it and was tipped off about the identity theft.
THEFT
A resident of the 200 block of Old Green Bay Road reported at 3:31 p.m. on March 6 that someone had stolen packages that had been delivered to their home while they were away.
ARRESTS
Felicia D. Gillman, 54, of the 500 block of Clavey Lane, Highland Park, was arrested around 8 p.m. on March 2 in the 900 block of Valley Road and charged with aggravated battery to a peace officer. Police did not immediately respond to a query about the incident that led to her arrest.
NORTHFIELD
INCIDENTS
FRAUD
A resident of the 3100 block of Illinois Road reported around 8 a.m. on Feb. 27 that someone had tried to scam them through their computer. Police were told that a pop-up message had suggested calling a number, purportedly for Apple service. The resident called the number provided and was told that they would need to buy $500 worth of Apple iTunes gift cards and give their numbers over the phone. The resident became suspicious and contacted a local Apple store and Northfield police, who are investigating the incident.
SUSPICIOUS PHONE CALL
A resident of the 300 block of Graemere Street reported at 4:43 p.m. on Feb. 28 that someone had called them claiming to be an IRS agent. When the purported agent was asked his name, he reportedly used profanity. The resident did not give him any information and hung up.
CAR BURGLARY
A resident of the 200 block of Dickens Street reported at 8:23 a.m. on March 1 that someone had rummaged through an unlocked SUV parked on the driveway, leaving the contents of the center console strewn around the seat and floor, sometime between Feb. 23 and 27.
GARAGE BURGLARY
A resident in the 200 block of Latrobe Avenue reported on the morning of March 1 that someone had broken into their home during the previous night. Police were told that someone had gotten in through an unlocked garage, which contained an unlocked Hyundai. The intruders stole a wallet with multiple forms of identification and credit cards from inside. Police are investigating.
SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT
Police were called to Medline Industries on the morning of March 2 for a report of a suspicious phone call. Police were told an employee had gotten a call saying their spouse had been involved in a traffic crash and was being held in an undisclosed location. The caller mentioned a gun and told the employee not to contact the police. The employee recognized the call was fake and hung up.
ARRESTS
A 62-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 12:44 p.m. on Feb. 27 and charged with driving with a suspended license and suspended registration following a traffic stop in the area of Willow Road and Walnut Avenue.
A 36-year-old St. Charles, Missouri man was arrested at 9:49 a.m. on Feb. 28 and charged with driving on a suspended license, operating a motor vehicle wihle using an electronic communication device and failure to yield turning left.
Brian J. Hrametz, 40, of the 400 block of Dorothy Drive, Des Plaines, was arrested at 8:31 a.m. on March 2 and charged with felony driving on a suspended license, operating a motor vehicle while using an electronic communication device and expired registration following a traffic stop in the area of the 200 block of Northfield Road. He had at least two previous convictions for driving while his license was suspended following a DUI violation.
