• Tower Road pier projections pushed back; Trustees expect to see plans by December (therecordnorthshore.org) — Winnetka officials have pushed back the projected restoration of pedestrian access to the closed Tower Road pier, now targeting completion in 2027 while engineers finish structural analysis. The Village Council extended its contract with consultant Baird & Associates, with survey and subsurface work this year guiding how much of the pier can safely reopen and how closely the project can stay to its $500,000–$1 million budget. 
• Record intern wraps up prolific summer of North Shore reporting (therecordnorthshore.org) — A summer intern for The Record North Shore wrapped up a prolific season of reporting, including a widely read story on Winnetka's viral "PE guy." Her 40 local pieces—from Northfield board meetings to community features—highlight how deeply reported neighborhood news still depends on emerging journalists and reader support across New Trier Township communities.
