Stanton Alumni Recognition during Homecoming Reunion Weekend. Appel returned to the Winnetka campus to meet with students about creativity, risk-taking, and unconventional career paths, while reflecting on how the school shaped his life and ongoing commitment to mentoring young writers.
   

• Winnetka residents demand safer Hibbard Road crossing (therecordnorthshore.org) — Winnetka parents are pressing village officials to add a flashing pedestrian beacon at the dangerous Hibbard Road and Westmoor Trail crossing used daily by Hubbard Woods and other local students. After recent close calls involving children, cyclists, and neighbors, residents packed the Oct. 6 Village Council meeting, where leaders promised short-term and long-term safety solutions for this key route.
