Rio Olympics: Local Swimmers Conor Dwyer, Olivia Smoliga Move On to Medal Rounds
Dwyer, of Winnetka, will race in the 400-meter freestyle final, while Glenview's Smoliga goes for gold in the 100-meter backstroke Monday.

North Shore swimmers Conor Dwyer and Olivia Smoliga advanced to the medal rounds Sunday of their individual events at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
A day after missing out on earning a bronze medal in the men's 400-meter freestyle, Dwyer, of Winnetka, continued his streak of posting impressive qualification times at this year's Games.
His time of 1:45.59 in the 200-meter freestyle semifinal was third best Sunday, behind China's Sun Yang (1:44.63) and Japan's Kosuke Hagino (1:45.45).
