Washburne School Selects Next Principal
A current principal in another prominent Chicago suburb gets the nod.

David Kanne, currently a Junior High principal in Naperville, will fill the same role at Carleton Washburne School in Winnetka pending board approval.

Winnetka Public Schools District 36 Superintendent Trisha Kocanda said parents, staff members, students and administrators all participated in the selection process, which was conducted with the support of an educational leadership search firm.

“Mr. Kanne is both an effective leader and someone who simply loves middle school education,” Kocanda said. “He impressed the interview teams with his collaborative attitude and passion for meeting the academic, social, and emotional needs of all students. His primary focus has always been on helping students and staff grow by developing their strengths. He will continue that work in Winnetka. “
Kanne is currently principal at Washington Junior High School in Naperville and previously served as an English teacher, director of student activities and assistant principal at a school in Clayton, Missouri.
