Accused In-House Pot Farmer Texted Death Threat to His Own Dad: Court Papers
David Robbins gave his dying 92-year-old grandpa cannabis oil 4 times a day, which angered his father in Downers Grove, court file shows.

A man accused of turning his home into a high-tech cannabis cultivation center — with pot plants growing in his garage, basement and first-floor of his residence — angered his relatives when he gave his dying grandfather cannabis oil, according to court documents.
Kane County sheriff’s deputies raided the St. Charles Township home of David Robbins, 44, on Nov. 12. The special operations unit found marijuana with a street value of $500,000, two guns, a rifle and high-tech irrigation equipment, according to the sheriff’s department.
Robbins is due in court on Wednesday.

In addition to felony drug charges, Robbins is also accused of violating an order of protection obtained in DuPage County by his own father, J. Michael Robbins, 65, of Downers Grove, reports the Chicago Tribune, after the father accused the son of texting him death threats.
Those alleged threats by text came after J. Michael Robbins obtained a court order to prevent his son from seeing his 92-year-old grandfather, Joseph Robbins. Last July, J. Michael Robbins, through hospital tests, learned that his father, who suffered from prostate cancer, was being dosed with cannabis oil by David. The old man was getting cannabis oil four times a day, the Tribune reports.

“I do not want him anywhere near my father anymore,” Michael Robbins wrote in his application for the protective order. “We are all fearful of what he might do.”
The elderly Robbins died in September.
In October, J. Michael Robbins sought another order of protection — this time for himself — saying he received a text from David Robbins that informed him he’d be “joining Grandpa soon,” reports the Tribune.
Because of that, David Robbins, of 38W0501 Mallard Lake Road, was not allowed to be in possession of any weapons.
He remains in the Kane County jail.
