The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office handed out 34 citations to motorists who police said violated traffic laws in school zones in unincorporated areas of the county.

The sheriff’s office conducted the school safety campaign during September, which was meant to target speeders in school zones, according to a DuPage County Sheriff’s Office press release. “I’m pleased to see more and more people obeying the traffic laws while driving through school zones,” said DuPage County Sheriff John Zaruba. “As I’ve said many times before, this back-to-school safety strategy isn’t about arresting people and writing tickets, it is about achieving compliance and educating motorists, as well as our children, about safety.”
