UPDATED: No Injuries, No Charges Filed After Car Crashes Into Woodridge 7-Eleven

Officials are still investigating how the incident occurred.

The 7-Eleven opened for business again last week after a car crashed through the building last Wednesday. An employee said the window was boarded up and the floor was getting back to normal after the incident.

Officials are investigating an incident in which a car crashed into a at the corner of Woodridge Drive and 75th Street on Wednesday afternoon.

Kate Croteau, management analyst of the , said no one was injured in the collision. The wall the car struck was non-weight-bearing, so there is no danger to the building itself.

No charges have been filed in the incident.

Croteau said a team is still determining what exactly caused the car to crash through the building.

Jason Szczyrk, 28, of Woodridge, was working behind the counter at the time of the crash, which happened around 1:50 p.m., he said.

Szczyrk said a woman thought she had hit the brake and hit the gas instead, crashing though the glass behind the counter where he was standing.

"There was just a loud bang and a window crashing at you," Szczyrk said.

He jumped out of the way and sustained no injuries. He said there was one other customer in the store at the time, who also was unharmed.

Croteau said officers from the were on the scene. Lisle-Woodridge Bureau Chief Dan Anderson said there were some electrical issues due to the damage, and the utilities were disconnected from the unit before the car could be removed. Nicor, Com-Ed and the Village of Woodridge Building Department responded, as well as the Woodridge Police Department.

Once all of the utilities were secured, Anderson said, the vehicle was removed and the building was boarded up.
