Police: Drugs and Drunken Driver Found in Car with Fraud Connection

The driver faces felony DUI charges, while police charged the passenger with drug possession.

A Tennessee man was charged with two felonies April 22 after officers stopped the car he was driving near 75th Street and Lemont Road in connection with a fraud in progress in Woodridge, said.

Robert Anderson, 48, of the 200 block of Burning Tree in Hermitage, TN, faces felony DUI charges, as well as felony charges for driving with a suspended license. Officers said he had glassy, bloodshot eyes, dilated pupils and slurred speech. He admitted to drinking and submitted to chemical tests, according to the report. 

Anderson remains in DuPage County Jail on $10,000 bond, according to jail records.

Police found his passenger, Alicia M. Bell, 39, of the 4500 block of Washington Boulevard in Chicago, in the backseat of the car, disoriented and slurring her speech, according to the report. 

Officers found drug paraphernalia, as well as what they believe to be cocaine in Bell’s jacket and purse, the report said. She was charged with drug possession and taken to DuPage County Jail, where she remains on $2,500 bond.

Officials from the did not respond to a request for details on the fraud incident and the car’s suspected connection.
