Police: Motorcyclist's Speed Contributed to Fatal Accident in Woodridge

A 19-year-old from Justice, IL, died Friday when his motorcycle hit a semi-truck trailer.

A 19-year-old man from Justice, IL, died Friday afternoon in west suburban Woodridge after , according to police. 

John Waksmundzki was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:27 p.m. near the intersection of 107th Street and Joliet Road in Woodridge, the Will County Coroner's Office reported. 

The motorcycle's speed contributed to the accident, according to Kate Andris, Woodridge Police Department Management Analyst.

Waksmundzki was traveling north on Joliet Road at a high rate of speed. The semi-tractor, traveling south, made a left-hand turn in front of the motorcycle. Waksmundzki hit the tractor's trailer, she said. 

The driver of the semi-tractor was not injured, Andris said. The investigation of the accident is ongoing. No charges have been filed.
