An investigation showed Lisa Davis and David Davis had a verbal fight that ended with Lisa Davis stabbing David Davis with a kitchen knife.

Davis must serve half of her 14-year sentence before she’s eligible for parole. She will be given credit for the time she’s already served in custody, according to the state’s attorney’s office.

“This is a very sad case where a verbal argument between a husband and wife turned physical and escalated to the point of murder.” said DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert B. Berlin in a statement. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Davis’ surviving family and friends as they move forward with their lives without David. This case should serve as a warning to others that if you find yourself in an emotional, heated argument, take a step back to allow yourself some time to cool off before the situation gets out of control.”
