• Bloomington City Council sets packed agenda addressing tech bans, housing, and board appointments (wbiw.com) — Bloomington's Common Council meets Wednesday, Sept. 16, to tackle big decisions on housing rules, tech surveillance bans, and economic development areas like Hopewell South. Residents can attend in person or via Zoom as councilors consider Unified Development Ordinance changes, commission appointments, and the 2027 budget for the Monroe County Capital Improvement Board and Convention Center.
   

• Bloomington man dies after motorcycle crash (heraldtimesonline.com) — A 61-year-old Bloomington man has died after a Saturday motorcycle crash near South Fairfax and East Will Sowders roads, underscoring a serious safety incident close to home. Investigators say a deer was involved and are still determining other factors, while authorities ask anyone who witnessed the collision to contact the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
   

• Consumer Protection & VITA Community Event (purdue.edu) — Bloomington residents can get free consumer protection education and VITA tax assistance at a collaborative event on October 1 at the downtown Bloomington Public Library. Experts from Purdue Extension, Indiana Legal Services, and IU Maurer School of Law will cover scams, debt collection, robocalls, and taxpayer rights, with limited one-on-one legal sessions available on a first-come basis.
