• Community rallies for blood drive after boy's injury (courierpress.com) — A community blood drive honoring 5-year-old boating accident survivor Jentry Pace will be held Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Ascension St. Vincent on Washington Avenue in Evansville. After a previous Newburgh drive filled every slot, residents are urged to book appointments through redcrossblood.org to help replenish the blood supplies that support patients across the region.
   

• Paying for Patrol: Evansville Police overtime topped $4 million in 2025 (14news.com) — Evansville taxpayers covered nearly $4 million in police overtime in 2025, largely driven by staffing shortages that have left the department 25 officers below its cap, plus six out on injury. Chief Philip Smith says overtime funds extra patrols against gun crime and coverage for big events like the Fall Festival, and expects overtime to remain necessary while recruitment lags.
   

• Former IU player, coach speaks to Evansville Quarterback Club (14news.com) — A longtime Indiana University football figure, Mark Deal, visited the Downtown Evansville Quarterback Club on Monday to share stories from his playing and coaching days. He praised Evansville as a major high school football hub and highlighted his strong support for Indiana's prep coaches and programs, giving local fans a closer connection to IU's football legacy.
