Hamilton County Sheriff's Office: Annual Blood Drive Set For Aug. 2
People can donate blood during the annual Fallen Officer Blood Drive to honor those who've died in the line of duty.

FISHERS, IN - The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office announces its annual Fallen Officer Blood Drive is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 2 at the Sheriff's Office, 18100 Cumberland Rd., Noblesville. All are invited to honor fallen officers by giving blood, as this event is part of the 11th annual Fallen Officer Blood Drive Campaign, taking place at memorial blood drives across the state this summer, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
A Hamilton County Sheriff's Office Facebook page post reports 2,842 donations were given in 2016, contributing to the more than 44,700 pints of blood people have donated since the 2007 start of the Fallen Officer blood drives.
The campaign was founded by Janice Starnes, widow of Morgan County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Daniel Starnes, who was 46 years old when he was shot in the line of duty in 2001. Sergeant Starnes passed away one month after the traffic stop shootout due to complications from gunshot wound infections, according to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.
