1. Franklin approves $80,000 Grant for Hobson Tool & Machine expansion (mojo1029.com) — Franklin's Redevelopment Commission has approved an $80,000 grant to help Hobson Tool & Machine renovate and move into a long-vacant Industrial Drive building, supporting the company's expansion and local jobs. Instead of a traditional tax abatement, officials chose an upfront reimbursable incentive they say offers a faster return while getting the family-owned manufacturer operating in the new space sooner.
   

2. Edinburgh Town Council approves measure to restore Pixy Theater (mojo1029.com) — A Franklin College professor is helping lead a new Pixy Forever Foundation effort to buy and restore Edinburgh's historic Pixy Theater, with support from the Johnson County Community Foundation and Franklin's Historic Artcraft Theatre. If successful, the venue would host films, live performances, workshops, and rentals, creating a cultural hub that could benefit nearby Franklin residents and businesses as well.
   

3. Throwback Thursday: Sept. 17 (dailyjournal.net) — A Throwback Thursday feature looks back at Johnson County stories from past Sept. 17 editions, including a 1993 reflection by interim Franklin College president Ted Grossnickle. The roundup also revisits neighborhood traffic safety efforts, debate over a proposed Walmart, and early cable service issues, offering Franklin readers a snapshot of how local concerns have evolved over decades.
   

4. Peggy Lynn (Wimsatt) O'Day (dailyjournal.net) — Franklin residents are invited to honor the life of Peggy Lynn (Wimsatt) O'Day, a 63-year-old Franklin homemaker who passed away Monday surrounded by family. Visitation and services will be held Saturday, September 19, at Swartz Family Community Mortuary on U.S. 31, followed by burial at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin, with livestream options for those unable to attend.
