Blue Angels Fly Over Indianapolis To Honor First Responders

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Healthcare workers, first responders and essential workers immersed in the battle against the coronavirus received a special salute Tuesday afternoon in Indianapolis from the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels flight squadron. At 2 p.m., the Blue Angels did an 11-minute flyover to honor these workers and first responders, and residents across the Indianapolis area watched and captured the flyover for those who couldn't witness it themselves.

A social distancing reminder was posted along with the flyover announcement on the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron's Instagram account (usnavyblueangels).

Indianapolis resident Sarah Asrar told Patch she watched from the rooftop of her apartment complex, and said those who also stepped outside to take in the flyover salute were standing far away from each other.

Flyovers also took place Tuesday in Detroit, Michigan and Chicago, Illinois.

"It was really nice they did that," Asrar said of the flyover.
