IMPD Officers Arrest 18-Year-Old Male For Murder Of Fellow 18-Year-Old Male

What IMPD said was likely the shooter's motive for the murder of a fellow 18-year-old male.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department reports a man has been arrested for Sunday's murder of a male victim at Wes Montgomery Park. Police said 18-year-old Eugene Jones (pictured) is in police custody for the murder of 18-year-old Deante Williams. According to IMPD, robbery was likely a motive in the shooting. IMPD officials report the shooting took place in the 3400 block of Hawthorne Lane just after 6:30 p.m. Sunday, and Williams was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said detectives continue investigating what led to a shooting Sunday on the city's North side, resulting in the death of the victim at the hospital. IMPD officials report officers were sent to the 3400 block of Hawthorne Lane just after 6:30 p.m. on a report of a person shot. IMPD officials said when their officers arrived to the Wes Montgomery Park location, they found an 18-year-old male suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

Police say the man was transported by Indianapolis EMS to the hospital in critical condition, where the victim succumbed to his injuries and died.

IMPD said detectives do not believe the shooting was a random attack, and are continually searching the area for any other information and evidence.
