DETAILS: What IMPD officials are saying about this weekend's shooting, including information about the victims.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Homicide Unit are investigating a fatal shooting that happened over the weekend on the city’s southwest side, IMPD reports. IMPD said officers were dispatched to the 6400 block of W. Washington Street just before 3 a.m. Sunday morning for a person shot at a night club. That's where officials said they located two men who appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound and were transported to a nearby hospital by Indianapolis EMS.

According to IMPD, one of the men was pronounced dead shortly after arriving to the hospital, and the other male was treated for injuries and released.

Police say the Marion County Coroner's Office will be assisting in this investigation and will work to determine the victim's exact cause of death. Homicide detectives and the Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency are also assisting.
