IUPUI Pre-Med Student Struck, Killed By Bus On Campus
DETAILS: The group speaking out as the investigation into the death of an 18-year-old IUPUI student continues.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Police say a female student at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) died at the hospital after being struck by a school bus Monday, Fox59 reports. Right now community members are mourning the death of 18-year-old Fatima Hassuneh (pictured), a sophomore pre-med student studying biology, according to the IUPUI Muslim Student Association's Facebook page.
Fox59 reports the accident happened around 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of New York Street and University Boulevard on IUPUI's campus. According to a preliminary investigation of the incident, the student was crossing New York Street with the right-of-way when she was struck by the bus, which was attempting to make a left-hand turn from University Boulevard onto New York Street, Fox59 reports.
Fox 59 reports the victim was taken to Eskenazi Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

The bus was reportedly under contract with Indianapolis Public Schools, and was owned and operated by Durham Transportation.
