📰 News we're reading

1. Hamilton County to begin curbside flood debris collection (wrtv.com) — Hamilton County crews, staging from Noblesville, will start curbside flood debris pickup Monday, and residents in flooded areas should spend this weekend moving and sorting items at the curb. Officials stress separating electronics, yard waste, building materials, appliances, hazardous waste, and sandbags so FEMA reimbursement goes smoothly and trucks can work faster. Help is available by phone if you can't move debris yourself.

2. A week later, Noblesville city leaders listened to neighbors' concerns after flood (wthr.com) — Noblesville neighbors from the Southside Park area just met with city leaders to share frustrations and questions after last week's devastating flood, which some blame partly on a 2024 pedestrian tunnel project. Mayor Chris Jensen acknowledged the tunnel worsened water flow and promised a deeper review of new infrastructure, evacuation alerts, and rental property issues as more than 80 residents sought answers and resources.

3. Noblesville had 2 scam reports in July, tying it with 27 cities for 28th in Indiana (northindynews.com) — Noblesville logged just two BBB Scam Tracker reports in July 2026, down from six in June and ranking 28th among 152 Indiana cities with at least one report. Employment scams were the top issue locally, mirroring broader fraud trends as nationwide consumer losses climbed sharply last year.

4. Indianapolis Public Works plans convoy for all-day flood debris removal (wishtv.com) — Recent historic flooding pushed the White River in Noblesville to a record 24.6 feet, breaking a mark that had stood since 1913. While Indianapolis crews now focus on debris removal in city neighborhoods, Noblesville residents are part of a broader regional disaster that has damaged homes, disrupted power, and prompted Indiana to seek major federal recovery aid.

5. Indiana's US lawmakers urge Trump to approve major disaster declaration (wishtv.com) — Noblesville's stretch of the White River broke flood records dating back to 1913, part of the severe August storms that destroyed or damaged more than 1,700 structures statewide. Indiana's congressional delegation is urging President Trump to approve a major disaster declaration so communities like Noblesville can access additional federal aid for long-term recovery.
