Pewitt, clearing the way for a long-delayed trial in Porter County. After finishing a separate sentence, Pewitt is now held in Porter County Jail on bond while attorneys prepare for a trial date that must be set within 180 days.

• These upcoming Indiana tax deadlines are extended due to historic flooding (bluewaterhealthyliving.com) — Porter County residents hit by August's flooding now have until Feb. 1, 2027, to file certain state and federal tax returns and payments, including quarterly estimates. The extension is automatic and covers individuals, businesses, nonprofits, and corporations in the disaster-declared counties. If you still receive a penalty notice, you're advised to call the number listed to have it voided.
