Ames' Burnett Avenue Surface Patching Underway

Surface patching on Burnett Avenue at the intersections of 15th and 16th streets began today, Nov. 7, and will continue for three days. This patching is needed at areas where street pavement was removed as part of the water main installation project on Burnett Avenue that began in September.

This work will require full road closure on 15th Street at the intersection with Burnett Avenue, and a partial road closure on 16th Street at the intersection with Burnett Avenue. Sidewalk detours will be posted in the area.

The City of Ames contracted with Keller Excavating to complete the water main project, and Manatts Construction was subcontracted to complete the surface patching. Minor sidewalk replacement will also take place in areas where water service connections were made.

Residents are encouraged to take note of construction activity in the area and allow extra travel time as delays may occur. As always, exercise caution when traveling near the construction area. For safety reasons, please keep children and pets away from the construction zone.
