Ames City Council Meetings Via Zoom

This format will continue through May 15 and could be extended. The next meeting begins at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14.

Due to the growing number of cases of COVID-19 in Iowa and to encourage social distancing, the regular meetings of the Ames City Council will be conducted via teleconferencing through Zoom, a video and audio remote conferencing platform. This format will continue through May 15 and could be extended. The next meeting begins at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14.

City Hall will remain closed to the public, and the Mayor and Councilmembers will access the meeting electronically. As always, the public may view public meetings on Cable Channel 12 (for Mediacom subscribers), videostream meetings from the City’s website (www.CityofAmes.org/Channel12), or watch live on the City’s YouTube station (www.youtube.com/AmesChannel12).

To participate in the April 14 meeting, citizens should connect via Zoom. The Webinar ID is 826 593 023.

Prior to the meeting, emails can be sent to Ames Mayor John Haila and the Ames City Council by using this email: MayorCouncil@cityofames.org. Those without internet access can get telephone numbers for the Mayor and Ames City Council by calling the Clerk’s Office at 515.239.5105.

The City of Ames is committed to continuing to provide essential City services (including utilities, public works, public safety) to its residents. In order to do so, City staff exposure to the virus in City workplaces is being minimized. Although Ames City Hall as well as all other City buildings were closed to the public effective March 20, City staff will continue to work in the City facilities. Residents are encouraged to conduct City business online or by contacting individual City departments directly.
