Ames Fire Responds Fire At Resource Recovery

Ames firefighters responded Wednesday to a structure fire at 110 Center Ave., which is the City of Ames Resource Recovery facility. At approximately 11:40 p.m., Ames firefighters arrived on scene and discovered smoke coming from the east side of the building.

The fire was quickly extinguished by fire crews with assistance from facility personnel. Minimal water was used and there was minimal damage from the fire. Due to early reporting of the fire by employees and quick actions by fire personnel, damage is estimated to be less than $300.
There were no injuries. The cause of the fire was attributed to maintenance work in the area.
