Ames Public Invited To Neighborhood Meeting Featuring Multiple City Projects

The City of Ames Planning and Housing, Public Works, and Fire Departments are hosting a public open house and meeting for residents.

The City of Ames Planning and Housing, Public Works, and Fire Departments are hosting a public open house and meeting for residents to learn more about potential City projects that are planned or being considered in the College Creek/Old Ames Middle School neighborhood (generally defined as south of Lincoln Way, from Hyland Avenue to Beedle Drive).

The event will begin at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23, with an open house at the Ames Middle School, 3915 Mortenson Road. A short, 10-minute overview of the three projects will be held at 6 p.m.

1. Planning & Housing Department: Update on the development of 321 State Avenue. This includes developing multi-family units on the site and using Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds to install a shared use path from Franklin Park to Wilmoth Avenue.
2. Public Works Department: Update on the installation of a shared use path from Beedle Drive to the Ames Intermodal Facility.
3. Fire Department: Exploring the idea of relocating Fire Station #2 somewhere along State Avenue, between Arbor Street and Mortensen Road.
