Ames VET Med Trail Paving Begins This Week

All are encouraged to take note of construction activity in the area and allow extra travel time as delays may occur.

The Vet Med Trail from South 16th Street to Airport Road is closed for paving improvements scheduled to begin this week. The City of Ames has contracted with Howrey Construction of Rockwell City, Iowa, to complete this project.

The Vet Med Trail north of South 16th Street has been closed since March as part of the South Grand Avenue Extension project, with University Boulevard used as a detour. This detour will be extended south to Airport Road for the trail paving project between South 16th Street and Airport Road.

The section of the trail south of South 16th Street to Airport Road will reopen after the completion of the paving project, which is expected to take four to six weeks. The section of the trail north of South 16th Street to South Third Street will remain closed for the duration of the entire South Grand Avenue Extension project.
