The fourth phase of the project will involve reconstruction of South Fifth Street from the Boys and Girls Club to Aldi. Subcontractor Con-Struct Inc. will continue paving the extension of South Fifth Street westward from just west of the Boys and Girls Club to South Grand Avenue (phases 1, 2, and 3).
The intersection of South Walnut Avenue and South Fifth Street will be open during work on phase four to allow access to apartments on South Fifth Street that are west of the Boys and Girls Club. South Fifth Street will be closed to through traffic from west the Boys and Girls Club to approximately 400 feet east of South Walnut Avenue. Through traffic should follow detour signs in the area along South Duff Avenue, South Third Street, and South Walnut Avenue during this phase, which is expected to take four to five weeks to complete.

Those living or traveling in the area should use caution around the construction activity and allow extra travel time as delays may occur. As with all paving operations, saw cutting of joints in newly poured pavement is critical and it may be disruptive beyond normal work hours. For safety reasons, please keep children and pets away from the construction zone.
