Public Invited to Chad Pregracke on April 21
The City of Ames will host environmental speaker Chad Pregracke, founder of river clean-up organization “Living Lands and Waters,” at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, in the City Hall Auditorium, 515 Clark Ave. Pregracke will share his organization’s efforts to protect and preserve rivers and watersheds around the Midwest, and what others can do to help. The community is invited to this free lecture.
This lecture is part of Eco April, a celebration of two anniversary milestones this year. The 50th anniversary of worldwide Earth Day will be recognized on April 22, and the 10-year anniversary of the City of Ames EcoFair will be celebrated on Saturday, April 25, in the City Hall Community Center Gym.
“This is a community celebration, and we have many organizations excited about sharing their support of becoming a more sustainability minded community,” said Tracy Warner, Ames Municipal Engineer. “The City continues to monitor carbon reduction and look for ways to model best practices in conservation with our projects, programs, and services.”
For 10 years, EcoFair has been an outreach event with the goal of connecting citizens with City staff and experts who provide resources focused on energy, water, land, and resources. Additionally, citizens can learn about environmentally minded projects and groups, and how to support a more sustainable future.
The final of three EcoChats on “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” will be held on Monday, March 30, at Ames Public Library, 515 Douglas Ave. The event starts with a vendor fair at 6:30 p.m., with speakers beginning at 7 p.m.
