Improvements to Delaware Avenue from Ontario to Reliable streets will begin Monday, March 23, weather permitting.

Improvements to Delaware Avenue from Ontario to Reliable streets will begin Monday, March 23, weather permitting. The City of Ames has contracted with Con-Struct Inc., to complete intake and curb replacement, pavement improvements, and sidewalk infill. This phase of the project is expected to be complete within three to four weeks.

Delaware Avenue will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project. However, access will be allowed for residents. Residents are encouraged to park on the street when access to driveways is not possible. Residents along Delaware Avenue are encouraged to label their trash containers with their addresses, and the contractor will move and return them as needed for emptying. Temporary mailbox locations will also be established for residents, as noted on the map.
In response to concerns regarding COVID-19, the City has instructed inspectors and the contractor to maintain a social distance of at least six feet, use gloves when necessary, and to stay home when they are sick.

All are encouraged to take note of construction activity in the area and allow extra travel time as delays may occur. Exercise caution when traveling near the construction area. For safety reasons, please keep children and pets away from the construction zone.
