GRIP Pair Up 4 a Purpose 5K & 2.5K Run/Walk

Events of the day include free refreshments and bakery items provided by Panera Bread, a drawing for door prizes available to all entrants, and a warm-up with Cy, the ISU Mascot. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. The Kid’s Run will begin at 12:30 p.m. followed by the 5K and 2.5K Run/Walk at 1 p.m. An awards ceremony will be held following the race at 2 p.m.

 

Participants have the option of signing up as a “pair” to run the race together or as a relay exchange. Pairs are encouraged (though not required) to dress up as a famous pair. The most creatively dressed pair will win free Panera Bread for a year.

Registration is $20 before Nov. 1 and $25 after that date for a single adult racer. Registration for children 12 and under is $15. The first 300 people registered will receive a free long sleeve t-shirt. Participants can register online by going to www.yss.org and clicking on “Events.”

The Pair Up 4 a Purpose 5K Run/Walk benefits Youth & Shelter Services Great Relationships in Pairs (GRIP)mentoring program, a youth development service which matches elementary and middle school youth with adult mentors. Long-term friendships are developed in half-hour or hour-long weekly meetings at the school.
