Hutchison And Reliable Streets In Ames Work Begins Friday

Improvements to Hutchison and Reliable streets will begin Friday, April 24, and Monday, April 27, respectively.

Improvements to Hutchison and Reliable streets will begin Friday, April 24, and Monday, April 27, respectively. The City of Ames has contracted with Con-Struct Inc., to complete intake and curb replacement, pavement improvements, and sidewalk infill. This project is expected to be complete within two to three weeks.

Hutchison Street from Florida to Georgia avenues and Reliable Street from Delaware to North Dakota avenues will be closed to through traffic for the duration of the project. However, access will be allowed for residents. Delaware Avenue from Ontario to Reliable Street will be open to traffic starting Monday, April 27.

In response to concerns regarding COVID-19, the City has instructed inspectors and the contractor to maintain a social distance of at least six feet, use gloves when necessary, and to stay home when they are sick.

All are encouraged to take note of construction activity in the area and allow extra travel time as delays may occur. Exercise caution when traveling near the construction area. For safety reasons, please keep children and pets away from the construction zone.
